Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Fundamentals (CSC)

Note: This program is a Prison Education Program and is only offered at the Green Rock Correctional Center. 

Program Description:
The Career Studies Certificate in Electrical Concepts prepares students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills for entry-level employment in the electrical industry. Instruction includes the study of DC and AC circuits, measurement techniques, and safe work practices. Graduates may pursue careers in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical settings, or in related fields such as electrical equipment sales, service, and installation.

 

Program Coordination:
This certificate program also aligns with the Electrical program at Danville Community College:

  • Industrial Electrical Principles
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology (DIPL)

 

Program Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of electrical principles and the function of common components in both direct and alternating current circuits.
  • Perform basic electrical measurements using industry-standard tools and interpret results accurately.
  • Apply safety procedures and troubleshooting techniques in a laboratory or real-world electrical environment.
  • Communicate technical information effectively within the context of electrical work and projects.
